Mizoram Dance Styles
The most colorful dance of Mizoram is Cheraw. It can be performed onany occasion. But it is a dance which requires complete dedication as it used to be performed in earlier times only to ensure a safe passage for the soul of a mother who died during childbirth.
Long
bamboos are used for this dance; therefore it is also called as bamboo
dance. The performers move in and out from between and across a pair of
horizontal bamboos, held against the ground by people sitting face to
face on either side. The patterns and stepping of the dance have some
peculiarity. Sometime it gives the vibration of movement of birds.
Some other popular dances of the state are Chai, Rallu Lam, Solakia, Sarlamkai, Par Lam etc.
