Places to See in Mizoram
This blue mountain hills is located in in Chhimtuipui District near Myanmar border. The name of the place is derived from Lai language, phong meaning “grassland” and pui means “great”. The peak exhibits an enchanting view. At the western side of the peak you can also view semi-circular cliffs, which is known to be the home of mountain goats. There are stories about these cliffs being haunted by spirits. You surely would not want to miss the hair-rising experience.
This is a popular sight-seeing spot of twin tombs which has a heart-melting tale associated to it. The fabled story is of a couple Zawlpala and his wife Talvungi, the legendary beauty of those times. During those times polygamy was prevalent and she got married to the chief of Punthia and Rothai subsequently. She was heartbroken to hear the news of the death of her former husband Zawpala. She asked a lady to kill her and lay her next to the grave of her deceased husband. Many young couples visit the tomb to witness the two adjacent tombs as a symbol of love.
Memorial of Chhingpuii
The memorial was raised to commemorate the love between Chhingpuii, a very beautiful woman born to an aristocratic family, and her husband Kaptluanga. The happy life of the couple was shattered when Chhingpuii was abducted and killed. Grief-stricken, Kaptluanga took his life as he could not bear the loss of his wife. The stone stands as an epitome of the legendary love story of the couple.
The waterfalls is located 5 km south of Thenzawl in Serrchhip district of Mizoram. This is the tallest waterfalls in Mizoram and the 13th highest waterfalls in India. The waterfall originates from the Vanva river and flows tearing apart a blanket of greenery with a total height of 229 meters. Although rocky terrains and bamboo groves surrounding the falls make it difficult to touch the spring water, but a visit to the falls is worth your time for a picturesque view.

The is an oval lake situated near Phura village, 400 km from south of Aizwal. The lake is spread across an area of 1 sq km surrounded by dense forests. The lake is a house to many species of flora and fauna. A typicality of tourist places in Mizoram is that almost all of them have a blood-curdling story weaved to it. The villagers believe that once upon a time, before the lake was formed, the area was inhabited by villagers and a serpent which used to steal children from the village. The villagers managed to catch the serpent and kill it and distributed the flesh of the serpent as dinner to all the villagers. A widow who lived with her two children got the head of the serpent as her share. She was panic-stricken to take a look into the boiling pot to find the eyes of the serpent blinking and rolling. She ran out of her house to see her house flooded with water; however, she somehow managed to elope from there with her two children before the water engulfed the entire village along with the villagers. Although there are roads that connect jeep to the Palak Lake but the government has taken care that the pristine condition of the lake is maintained.
Khawnglung Wildlife Sanctuary
This wildlife sanctuary is situated 170 km away from Aizwal and is known to be a house of Sambhar, Hoolock Gibbon, Wild Boar, Himalayan Serow, Barking Deer, Leopard, and many other wild creatures. You can visit the sanctuary from October–March to increase the chances of spotting the habitants of the sanctuary.

Bike Trekking in Hmuifang Hill
Enjoy a bike ride on unbeaten trails in the Hmuifang Hill which is located at a height of 1,524 meter. If you are an inexperienced bike rider, try exploring the hill top of Chawilung, Hmuifang, Sumsuih, and Thiak villages.
Trekking in Mizoram

Go CavingPukzing Cave
Explore the largest cave in Mizoram which is situated at the Pukzing village in the Aizwal district. The tale says that the cave was carved out by a very strong man Mualzavata with a single hair pin.
Puk means cave in Mizo and the cave is situated near Mamte village over 100 km from Lunglei town. It is believed that the cave contained human skeletons. These skeletons were believed to be inhabitants of the place before Mizos. Those people were greater in height than the Mizos.
The cave which is located very close to Farkwan village in the Champhai district had witnessed a huge war between two villages. Many villagers were killed during that times whose skeletons were recovered from the cave.
Go Shopping in Mizoram
You should not miss the handicraft of a tourist spot. Mizos are excellent craftsperson and the Luangmual Handicrafts Centre is located 7 km from Aizwal. Do not miss to pick up the most famous handicraft work of this place, Khumbeu. This is a ceremonial hat made from waterproof wild Hnathial leaves. The cap is woven from cane and then lined with dried Hnathial leaves. You can get one of these eco-friendly caps to get protection from sun as well as rain. You can buy yourself beautifully hand-woven cloth, Paun and many more handcrafts.
No to Miss Mizo Cuisine
You should never leave a tourist place without tasting a special dish of the place. Mizo people do not eat very spicy food and soup is an integral part of a typical Mizo cuisine. Try to eat on the road side stalls to experience the real Mizo flavor. Bai is one of the typical Mizo cuisines cooked with steamed veggies, bamboo shoot, spinach, and with pieces of pork. Try the local grape wine called Lubrusca.
